Arko Datto's PIK-NIK | Exhibition at Galleri Image, Denmark

On May 3rd, Arko Datto will be opening his exhibition "Pik-Nik", curated by East Wing Gallery's Artistic Director Peggy Sue Amison, at Galleri Image in Aarhus, Denmark, as well as giving an artist talk on May 4th.

The exhibition will be open untill June 23 2019.

NOOR at ImageSingulières | Portfolio Reviews

These upcoming portfolio reviews provide an opportunity for emerging photographers to intensively discuss their work with NOOR photographers and industry professionals.

The morning will include reviewing your body of work and discussing your ideas, and will be attended by more than twenty professionals and NOOR members, followed by a drink.

Under Arabic graffiti that reads “You cannot search for the beauty of love, it comes to you” armed fighter jets have been drawn on the opening of a canvas tent in Obock Camp. Sketched by Yemeni refugee Mohamed Al Abid, the drawings depict the bombing raids in Taiz from which he fled with his pregnant wife.

A field outside of Luemba that has been slashed and burnt. Despite the conflicts and the destruction of many fields in 2016 and 2017, people who have returned to their homes started planting again and although malnutrition is still a problem, people are finding solutions to find food. Benedicte Kurzen's report on how the Nigerian army, together with forces from Chad and Niger, took territory from the Islamist militant group Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria in early March was published in Bloomberg Businessweek Magazine on 23 March.

kadir van lohuizen the forgotten war in congo drc

Kadir van Lohuizen portrayed former child soldiers in a mining village in South Kivu, in early 2015. Many kids dream of easy money and join the rebels. Others have been abducted.  Van Lohuizen also photographed the causes of the DRC conflict. He visited mines, Rwandese FDLR-rebels, and the Congolese army. The reportage was made possible with the support of War Child and Radio Netherlands Worldwide and published in the Dutch magazine Vrij Nederland in March.
