visual storytelling in an open society

A six-month training opportunity for documentary photographers and photojournalists in Egypt.

In collaboration with Al-liquindoi Workshops and Cairo-based Contemporary Image Collective, NOOR continues its educational efforts in the Arab world. "Visual Storytelling in an Open Society" is a training opportunity for local photographers in Egypt.

The program provides fully funded training and support to 15 photographers who are interested in visually documenting issues of importance in Egypt and the region. Participants will receive two six-day master-level workshops on visual storytelling that will be led by three internationally recognized photographers and industry professionals who will then provide on-going mentorship and support throughout the six-month term. Nina Berman will be the first workshop instructor and mentor on behalf of NOOR. Together with Sheryl A. Mendez of the Committee to Protect Journalists (click here), and a third mentor (soon to be announced), she will lead the first training program.

Deadline for application: 12 FEBRUARY 2012.

The program is open to Egyptian nationals and residents in Egypt only. For the FULL PROGRAM DETAILS, HOW TO APPLY and THE SELECTION PROCESS please visit the CIC website: www.ciccairo.com (in English and Arabic) or visit the dedicated Facebook page (also in Arabic): https://www.facebook.com/events/172841442816668

We would kindly like to ask you to spread the call for application amongst your Egyptian colleagues.
