On the 29th of August 2005 hurricane Katrina slammed in the coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi. Soon after the storm surge toppled the levee systems of New Orleans and subsequently most of the city flooded. Being the biggest natuaral disaster in the history of the US, Katrina also became a humanitarian crisis, unseen since the Great Depression.
